Following Ask MusicRadar's search for the best electric and acoustic guitars under £300 and the best low-powered tube amp head, our next quest is simple: we want to know what you think the best amplifier is for heavy metal.

It can be anything from a solid-state combo to a valve stack, but this time around there is no price limit. Money is no object as long as there's crushing gain and bowel-disturbing low end in spades.

So, you've ripped the sleeves off your t-shirt, strapped on that spark-spitting chainsaw codpiece and are wielding an axe with more points than The Pointer Sisters in a skip full of cats. When you throw the horns and the roar of the crowd is eclipsed by the ferocious howl of feedback, what's the amplifier you'd want behind you to help set that moshpit alight?
