Word reaches us that M-Audio is set to launch a new version (1.5) of its Torq DJing software at the 2008 Winter NAMM show. This takes place in Anaheim, California from January 17-20.

The first version of Torq was released late in 2006, as was its companion Conectiv audio interface. In 2007, the Torq Xponent arrived: this is a MIDI controller/audio interface designed specifically for use with the software.

There's been no official word yet on the new features that the Torq 1.5 update will contain, but some unconfirmed details have leaked out.

Reports suggest that you'll now be able to hide the mixer from the GUI, and we're also led to believe that the built-in and VST effects racks have been consolidated into a single window.

Auto-gain is another feature we're expecting - this will automatically raise the levels of songs that are too quiet - while Torq's timestretching functionality and support for external control are also set to be improved.

Finally, we're expecting support for chainable effects to be implemented.

No news yet on whether this will be a chargeable update, but we'll keep you posted (and also confirm whether the spec details above are correct).

For more on all things Torq, head over to the M-Audio website.
