Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days have finally arrived, and with it a flurry of sales activity from other retailers across the music industry. To be totally honest, you won’t find many great deals on typical music gear like studio headphones, audio interfaces, or electric guitars, but if you’re after essentials and accessories to augment your home studios, it’s a great way to pick up some absolute bargains.

I cover deals for MusicRadar year-round, so it’s safe to say that I know exactly what’s worthwhile in the Prime Day music deals, and what’s worth skipping. To that end I’ve looked through over 280 deals in the Musical Instruments section of Amazon, and put the very best ones for you right here.

Amazon Basics Patch Cable
Save 26% ($3.68)
Amazon Basics Patch Cable: was $14.39 now $10.71 at Amazon

Amazon caused quite a stir when they launched their Basics guitar pedal range, but they’ve also got patch cables on sale which are a much more enticing proposition for me. At $1.78 each, this six-pack of pancake-style cables is an amazing deal, and perfect if you need to top up your pedalboard with some low-cost cables. If you’ve got a ‘board you tend to use at home, then these are plenty durable enough to last a long time.

If you use a condenser microphone then a good quality stand is a must-have. Whether you like to have your mic hanging in from above or have it off to the side, this desktop-mounted mic stand will do a stellar job and you know coming from Rode it will stand the test of time, the same of which definitely can’t be said for a lot of the off-brand gear you find on Amazon.

If you’re the sort who typically plays with the same pick, you might be surprised at how much difference changing your gauge can make to your playing style. It’s a great way to freshen things up and rather than stabbing in the dark, grabbing something like this Dunlop Tortex Variety Pack could be just the primer you need to unlock some extra creativity. I like to switch picks regularly as I play across quite a few different genres, and I find it a really stimulating way to make a big change without spending loads. Okay so it’s not the sexiest buy, but a music stand can be a surprisingly useful tool for any kind of musician. I use one for rehearsals as it allows me to have my setlist and notes in front of me which is good prep for when I play live. At home you can use one for various things, whether it’s holding headphones or even putting pedals on for easy access while sitting down. It’s down to just $32 in the Big Deal Days sale and I’ve noticed these are already selling pretty quickly, so you’ll want to move fast to get hold of this one.
