Go on, go back to mono. You just might like it.

Against

  • Could do with a more transparent sound and larger monitor.
Buying options

Headphone sticks are in vogue again amongst quite a few DJs. Aside from the retro style points you get by looking like Larry Levan, these can be a much more robust alternative to consistently using reverse housing on regular headphones - and then often finding one ear broken as a result.

"The stick sits easily between your ear and shoulder while monitoring and will take a decent amount of level"

The Reloop stick is a tough plastic shell with foam grip, and comes fitted with a standard XLR connector at the base. This makes replacing faulty cables easy and cheap.

The stick sits easily between your ear and shoulder while monitoring and will take a decent amount of level with its 50mm driver.

That said, as this is a mono driver, it would have been nice for the stick to have a slightly more transparent sound, higher output level and even a 53mm or more driver for those awkward monitoring situations where you don't manage to get the headphone completely pressed against your ear.

This style of DJ monitoring isn't for everyone, and is probably more of a fashion statement than anything else. But if you often break DJ headphones or connector leads, then this stick looks and feels fantastic and is tough enough not to let you down.
