Cue massive outpouring of grief and inappropriate public displays of emotion, for Total Guitar's iconic Reviews Editor Ed Mitchell is leaving his full-time post on TG! Our Ed has decided to move back to his beloved Scotland and we need someone to replace him. Don't worry, though - we're not going to let him go just as easily as that. Ed will take his shed north of the border and continue to offer you advice on all your gear queries. This Shed will not be bulldozed! If you think you can fill the big man's shoes, read on...


About the role


As Total Guitar´s Reviews Editor you will have sole responsibility for writing and commissioning all the kit reviews for Europe´s best selling guitar magazine. Can you lead the nation in their purchasing choices and act as the main point of contact for everything kit related in TG?


Heading up the reviews section for Total Guitar means utilitising your product knowledge and established network of industry contacts to get the best reviews first and have an understanding what our readers really want to know about.


As well as writing reviews, you´ll be responsible for developing appropriate layout solutions, planning, writing, commissioning, managing copy deadlines and providing direction to the Art Editor to ensure the product is photographed appropriately.


You will need to continue to build effective relationships within the industry and will be ready to attend events, as well as keeping up with all the latest guitar developments, to secure exclusive reviews and news.



About You


You will have a demonstrable passion for and knowledge of guitars as well as a good understanding of emerging trends. Excellent industry contacts would be an advantage. With a detailed knowledge of the workings of guitars you will have the technical ability and know-how to be able to perform in-depth product tests and will be confident to review any equipment in detail. You will be keen and passionate about immersing yourself in reviewing kit and providing the readers with an honest, practical and detailed review. Editorial experience is not essential.
