t.akustik just released a range of sun, star and cloud-shaped acoustic panels for kids
Got a five-year-old music producer in the house who only wants the best? Why give 'em another boring grey slab?

We’re surprised it's taken this long. Room-improving acoustic panels are now a staple of any serious studio, be it at home or in a professional space. But up until now they’ve always been faceless grey slabs that make your room look more like a science lab or dungeon rather than anywhere fun where you can create and enjoy yourself.
But the age of grey all comes to an end today, with the introduction of t.akustik’s new Kids Line – a range of acoustic panels that exhibit all the qualities of their famous range of studio staples but with altogether more colourful and eye-catching kid-friendly designs.
The three designs – Sun, Star, and Cloud – come in three different sizes and each set consists of two panels made from hypoallergenic PET material making them perfect for sensitive environments.
They’re 25 mm thick, are double-sided printed, are certified as low-flammability (B-s1, d0 according to DIN EN 13501-1 and B1 according to DIN 4102-1) and are designed to perform reliably even in humid conditions.
Be under no illusion. These are not sound-proofing panels designed to line the walls of a playroom or bedroom in order to minimise the degree of racket emanating from your children. No. These are acoustic panels very much in the same vein as t.akustik’s popular acoustic panels used in home and professional studios for minimising unwanted reflections, eliminating standing waves, reducing the presence of fake bass and making your studio space sound as neutral and predictable as possible while performing and mixing.
Only shaped like suns, stars and clouds…
As such their use case is best described as somewhat ‘specialist’.

Perhaps your home studio is – in fact – in a child’s bedroom or playspace. When the little one checks out, perhaps you check in for a spot of critical listening? If so, being able to line the room with t.akustik-grade panels that will make your studio sound great while you’re in the zone and then will entertain and delight once you give up the space, makes them a great idea.
Alternatively if you’re sensitive about the quality of the sound within that space, to the extent that you don’t want your little ones putting up with a room that’s overly echoey or hollow and isn’t doing the expensive audio gear you’ve provided for them, then again, t.akustik’s new range will also hit the spot.
Finally, perhaps you’ve got a young music producer in the house who isn’t happy with the degree of audio control and their future musical journey is in jeopardy? And perhaps they would prefer something a little more colourful and cheerful rather than another grey slab to keep their sound on point. If so, you now know where to go.
Prices for the packs range from £42 for a pair of 520mm x 500mm suns, through to £216 for a pair measuring 980mm x 950mm.
