Six-String Summer: International Guitar Festival in Bath boasts stellar line-up

This Summer´s International Guitar Festival is already looking like the best ever with seminars and workshops by top guitarists that will make you a better player.

The Bath event kicks off on July 24 through to August 8 and has workshops to suit everyone from jazzers to thrashers.



Guitarist magazine acoustic techniques contributor Tristan Seume and blues contributor Neville Marten will also host plus Senior Music Editor Jason Sidwell will run the course Funk & Beyond with very special guests in the form of Jamiroquai´s rhythm section. Other tutors include Total Guitar´s Steven Lawson, John Wheatcroft, Jonny Scaramanga, Dario Cortese, Jim Clark, Toby Pitman; while star of recent Guitarist magazine CDs, Clive Carroll will be joined by British folk legend Martin Simpson for a fingerstyle week.

Guitarist´s own Mick Taylor will also be making his debut at IGF with a workshop on sound and making the most of your gear.

Bass players aren´t neglected either with former Vai and Satriani bassist Stuart Hamm sharing his immense knowledge in The Bass Boomers Academy.

Meanwhile blues guitarists are in for a treat: the 2009 IGF Blues Week welcomes back the talents of Matt Schofield, Aynsley Lister and Denny Ilett and introduces up and coming Australian guitarist Ash Grunwald who makes his IGF debut with ‘Resonator´ - a workshop for acoustic blues and slide.
And on the subject of new blues talent - recent additions to the roster include British blues sensation Oli Brown and recent Guitarist Fretbuzz Joanna Shaw Taylor.

And for those of you who don´t want to play - there will be evening gigs from the artists throughout the festival including a dream pairing of two Martins - that´s Taylor and Simpson.
