Doyle Dykes is a notoriously good fingerpicker in his own right, but he was still hugely influenced by the greats that came before him.
In this video lesson Doyle demonstrates some of his approaches to picking. Using a thumbpick and fingers, he explains how legendary guitarists Merle Travis and Chet Atkins created a strong sense of rhythm in their playing, and gives some stunning examples of his technique in action.
Doyle Dykes is also more than proficient at harp harmonics - to learn the secrets of this difficult-to-master technique, check out our video lesson of Doyle Dykes on harping.
