First look

First look

You may have seen elsewhere that details of Korg’s forthcoming microSAMPLER have leaked out, but we can now reveal that our friends at Future Music magazine have actually been testing this new keyboard for several weeks already. You can read their review in the Autumn issue of FM (on sale 30 September), but for now, we thought you might like to see some exclusive pictures.

Like its sister product, the microKORG, the microSAMPLER comes with own gooseneck mic (given that this is a sampling product, we won’t award any prizes for guessing what it’s for). Unusually, though, the dials on the keyboard are recessed rather than raised – we like to call it washing machine chic.

Many of the buttons are backlit, which will please those who plan on using the microSAMPLER in a live environment.

Here’s how things look from the rear. You’ll also find a USB port and MIDI I/O over to the left.

Future Music has been shooting the microSAMPLER from all angles today, but you’ll have to wait a few more weeks to see all their photos and find out what they think of it. In the meantime, keep your eye on MusicRadar for more details soon…
