How to use your MusicRadar Profile page

The MusicRadar Team, Wed 19 Dec 2007, 9:49 am UTC

As a MusicRadar user, you are at the heart of this site. We want all our user to have their own Profile page. It can help you buy and sell, meet music makers just like you, and add your own expertise to the site's content. Here's a quick guide to making the best of your own personal MusicRadar Profile page. At this Beta stage, not all functionality may yet be working perfectly for you, so please do let us know how you get on. MusicRadar is working hard to fix any remaining bugs and glitches.

Let's start with learning now to edit your own Profile page, via the Profile Wizard. When you join MusicRadar you will automatically have your own Profile page generated. Click on the Edit Profile button, top left (just below your currently blank Profile picture). There are 5 stages to editing your Profile. Let's see what you can do!

Profile Wizard Step 1: 'About me'
Here you can:
- Upload your main Profile picture. You can upload any picture on your own computer's hard drive. Remember, please optimise it for the web.
- Add some biographical information about your musical life.
- Add your location details. Your musical soulmate may be just around the corner.
- Set your privacy details. You can share your Profile info with any users on MusicRadar or just your friends on the site. You can even keep it invisible to anyone but yourself if you like, but MusicRadar is all about sharing.
And remember: MusicRadar will only share your personal details with who you want.

Profile Wizard Step 2: 'My music'
Here on your Profile, you can:
- Detail the bands and artists you like.
- Post links to your own music projects. If you have your own webpage on other sites such as FaceBook, MySpace or Soundclick, share it with other MusicRadar users here.

Profile Wizard Step 3: 'My gear'
MusicRadar loves gear. And it also wants to know what you have! Here you can:
- List your current gear.
- Use MusicRadar's GearFinder to help fill in your 'My gear' section. You can list what you own, what you're selling, and what's on your wishlist. Use MusicRadar's GearFinder to add your own gear to your Profile.
- And anytime you are looking at a MusicRadar review of some gear you can use our buttons: I Own It. My Wishlist. This will automatically add that gear to your own Profile. How neat is that?

Profile Wizard Step 4: 'My albums'
MusicRadar's albums are all about your music. Here you can:
- Upload your own photos - your band, your gigs, and your gear.
- Upload your own MP3 audio, too

Again, please optimise any 'My albums' content for the web. As MusicRadar is still Beta, there's currently a 24mB storage limit on users' 'My albums' pages, with a maximum of 8 album items. That's plenty to showcase your gig or gear pictures and some of your best tracks, yes?
