Shadows tribute bands descend on Reading!
With great timing to coincide with Cliff Richard and The Shadows' own 50th Anniversary tour, the Berkshire Shadows club has organised a gig for Children in Need day, on Friday 20 November at Loddon Valley Leisure Centre in Earley near Reading.
The evening will feature four Shadows tribute bands, The Silver Shadows, The Shadders, The Drifting Shadows and, headliners The Shadowers, a young band with a 22 year old Hank Marvin look-alike and sound-alike, plus Alan Jones who was The Shadows bass player for much of the '80s.
There will be trade stands at the event, including one from DrumWright. The evening show starts at 6.45pm, but the event will be open from mid-afternoon.
For full details visit www.celebratingtheshadows.com, or telephone 0118 3758900. Tickets are on sale from DrumWright now.
DrumWright´s Managing Director Chris Wright is the drummer in one of the bands, The Drifting Shadows, and their set will include his rendition of the Tony Meehan classic ‘See You In My Drums´. Chris is unsure as yet as to which of his many drum kits he will use but it will probably be either his 1963 classic Ludwig in Silver Sparkle (same colour and sizes as played by Brian Bennettt in that period) or, if it has completed restoration by then, his 1960s Gretsch in Champagne Sparkle, again similar in colour and sizes to one played by Tony Meehan before his departure from The Shadows in 1961.
