An evening with Bob Henrit, Clem Cattini and The Tornadoes...
Thursday 17 September will offer an evening of memories, banter and fine music with two of the UK´s elder statesmen of drumming, Bob Henrit and Clem Cattini, plus the legendary chart-topping Tornados (Telstar, Globetrotter etc) at the Jagz venue, Station Road, Ascot.
Bob Henrit first appeared on ITV´s ‘Thank Your Lucky Stars´ as a teenager with Adam Faith and the Roulettes in the early ´60s. He went on to form ´70s supergroup Argent ('Hold Your Head High', 'God Gave Rock ‘n Roll to You') before joining The Kinks in the ´80s. He is a regular contributor to the music press and drumming magazines.
Clem Cattini first came to prominence with Johnny Kidd and The Pirates, and was the drummer on the classic hit ‘Shaking All Over´ (ask him about the cocked-up drum break!). He formed The Tornados, who were the first UK group to top the charts both in the UK and USA with the legendary ‘Telstar´ in 1962. He was the house drummer on ‘Top of the Pops´ and his recording credits read like a Who´s Who of Pop and Rock. At the last count, he was the drummer on 47 UK No 1 singles!
The venue, Jagz, has an excellent reputation as an entertainment venue and restaurant and is conveniently located in Ascot, close to the M3, M4 and M25 motorways with plenty of free parking. It is next door to Ascot station. Your ticket price includes a two-course supper in the function room, plus anecdotes, banter and music spanning the last 50 years from Clem,
Bob, The Tornados and other special guests.
The evening will also include an auction of drumming and rock memorabilia. Dress code is smart casual.
Places are limited to just over 100 tickets and are on sale to the public now priced at £40, inclusive of supper. All profits will go to DrumWright´s adopted charity Tong-Len which sponsors ‘slum dog´ children in India through education (see www.tong-len.org for further information). So come along, bring your partner, have a great night out... and help a really good cause.
