Daron Malakian and his System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan have formed an exciting new band, Scars On Broadway, and have just released their debut album of the same name. Before the band hits the road, Malakian is going to talk to MusicRadar, and this is your chance to ask the questions…
Malakian's place in the annals of rock is already assured. As lead guitarist, co-writer and sometime singer in System Of A Down, he helped create a dazzling melange of experimental metal, hardcore punk, alternative rock, you name it. Guitar World magazine placed him #30 on their list of The 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists Of All Time. Not too shabby.
System Of A Down is now on an extended hiatus, but Malakian has plenty of music to make, and he's doing so in Scars On Broadway, which the guitarist describes as being influenced by acts such as David Bowie, Brian Eno, Neil Young and Roxy Music. The album is an exhilarating piece of work, and you can check out the band's single They Say here.

Joe is a freelance journalist who has, over the past few decades, interviewed hundreds of guitarists for Guitar World, Guitar Player, MusicRadar and Classic Rock. He is also a former editor of Guitar World, contributing writer for Guitar Aficionado and VP of A&R for Island Records. He’s an enthusiastic guitarist, but he’s nowhere near the likes of the people he interviews. Surprisingly, his skills are more suited to the drums. If you need a drummer for your Beatles tribute band, look him up.
