NAMM 2008: Stone Sour and Queensrÿche Peavey guitars
Two more signature collaborations for Peavey
Following on from Peavey's NAMM Show announcement of the PXD guitar series comes two new signature collaborations. Stone Sour guitarist Josh Rand and Queensrÿche's Mike Stone are both honoured with a Peavey axe to call their own.
JR Special
Josh Rand co-designed the JR Special with the Peavey Custom Shop, based on the HP Special. This flattop, basswood electric features a bolt-on maple neck and comes fitted with a DiMarzio PAF Joe humbucking pickup in the neck position and a DiMarzio X2N humbucker in the bridge position.
What's most striking about this guitar is the U.S. Army digiflage camouflage pattern artwork, which, ties in nicely with the fact that a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the JR Special will benefit wounded U.S. soldiers.
The Peavey JR Special guitar will be available to buy later in 2008 with an RRP of $1599.99.
Mike Stone Signature MS-1
The MS-1 guitar is actually a three way collaboration: Queensrÿche guitarist Mike Stone, the Peavey Custom Shop and motorcycle designer Erik Buell. This model features a mahogany body and neck, twin Seymour Duncan 59 humbucking pickups in the neck and bridge positions and a two-way adjustable bridge.
Buell and Stone worked together to develop an originally contoured body shape with Mike Stone commenting: "for this collaboration I wanted a modern, crushing guitar that can do everything, but be very curvy and sexy".
The Peavey MS-1 guitar will be built to order in the Peavey Custom Shop with an RRP of $1999.99.
