'Led Zeppelin are over!' says Jimmy Page's manager

No new album, tour - it's done

Despite published reports indicating otherwise, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham have abandoned plans to record and tour together.

MusicRadar spoke exclusively with Peter Mensch, Jimmy Page's manager, who stated categorically, "Led Zeppelin are over! If you didn't see them in 2007 [when they played a one-off reunion at London's O2 Arena], you missed them. It's done. I can't be any clearer than that."

Singers auditioned, "no one worked out"

Mensch confirmed that last fall, when singer Robert Plant made it known he was continuing his partnership with bluegrass artist Alison Krauss and had no intention of returning to Led Zeppelin, replacement vocalists were auditioned to possibly record and tour with Page, Jones and Bonham.

There are absolutely no plans for them to continue. Zero. Frankly, I wish everybody would stop talking about it" Peter Mensch, Jimmy Page's manager, on the prospect of a 'Led Zeppelin' tour

"They tried out a few singers, but no one worked out," says Mensch. "That was it. The whole thing is completely over now. There are absolutely no plans for them to continue. Zero. Frankly, I wish everybody would stop talking about it."

When asked what new projects Jimmy Page was going to be involved with in 2009, Mensch said, "Fuck if I know. I'm waiting to hear."

We would all love to see, and particularly "hear",Jimmy Page and Robert Plant together again creating new and original music as Led Zeppelin. But, the expectations are simply too much for a group of 60 year old men. Zeppelin was not about chamber music, it was a barnstorming musical powerhouse. Belly fat, bad backs, sore necks, poor eyesight, arthritis, and lack of youthful inspiration to smash convention, greatly reduces the odds that Zeppelin could reunite with the fire we all have no choice but to expect. Plant is right. It's a simple business decision. Zeppelin went out on top...it's best to leave them there.

Plant's being a selfish wanker. Does he really care about 10's of millions of fans or his band mates? He's had 28 years to do his own thing. He can at least give Zeppelin a few more. He's a disappointment.

    I really am jacked too....
Plant and so many of the fans talk about the limiting of their greatness
by stepping out on stage, 2 or 3the past../4's who they were in
How many greatest hits packages, ring tones or TV commercials actually render to the caesers their greatness....
Jones has been writing some tremendous material, Page still got it in him,
is it all or nothing with these guys? For christ's sake....
I was very impressed with the O2 performance, Dazed and Confused especially...darker, slower, meaner in it's lowered key..... I wouldn't care if the 4 of them sat on stools, or got around on walkers......or played in the bar down the street....it's living history, those guys have seen, done so much, touched so many others lives and I had even the strange excitement one time having even pissed in the stall next to Jason Bonham when he was jammin out in some Pittsburgh club with some Zep cover band in the 90's. Not some homo excitement....just who these guys are and who they represent, it's the real thing...not poser, hair band , tatooed, pierced, Mesa Boogie overdrive b.s.
I want more even if 98% of the fans think it a disgrace, which it would never be
if Page would go and produce, take Peter Grant control of the thing again
and muster his wizard writing skills with master jones and little thunder Bonham at their sides....its rediculous....
rock til you drop....what the f&ck else you guys gonna do? forget the plant sound alikes, get that middle eastern thing going again, try an all out blues explosion with some black singer/harmonica player,
get out there and rock....don't listen to the naysayers....
I don't care bout most peoples opinions about the sacredness of this band, I am a Zeppelin fan, but Presence and In Through the Out Door stunk....I got ripped off on a lot of bootlegs from their horrible 76,77, tours.....
here they are, sounding better almost 30 years later,
and I want more, Jones, Page and Bonham.....Plant if possible...
no more greatest hits or live versions of communication breakdown...no ring tones, commercials....old, over the hill, or dyin....you have the opportunity to do anything on the world stage, a million musicians would kill for the opp....
    play my musical heros, play!!!

I had tickets to see Led Zep at the Chicago Auditorium. Then Bonzo drinks himself to death. So his selfish act deprived the fans of the only thing fans demand from their favorite artists and that is performance. The performance is in exchange for the lifestyle that is afforded to these icons through support of the existing albums etc..
Once again we find ourselves with a selfish rock star. Robert Plant who thinks he doesn't owe "The Fans" He thinks he is above it all. He feels he can tell his longtime fans that they are out of luck I'm going to be a "COUNTRY STAR" Robert , HEE HAW has been cancelled.
It wasn't enough one of my other bands whose name I will not use here but rhymes with Zan Zalen but at least they went on the road for a bloated bullsh*t money grubbing tour violating their loyal fans by separating them from their hard earned money.
What I think I am personally owed by supporting such acts by buying their music not once but twice if not three or four times considering "Vinyl, CD, MP3s, and ITunes is "New" material from these gifted artists. Pay up!!! It's your turn If you put it out we will buy it good or bad. WE ARE THAT HUNGRY FOR NEW MUSIC THE JONES BROTHER AREN'T CUTTING IT. Good night and good luck.

Saw Zep at Hampton Beach Casino, NH in the summer of 69, right after the release of their 2nd album. Man they were great, couldn't hear a thing for about two days. But like everything else, past memories grow fonder the further away they get. It would have been great to see them back together with Jason Bohham filling in for his Dad and we know that Page still has his chops after watching him on the Olympics. Just like the Beatles reunion, we have a better chance at seeing Elvis. ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING, THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT and apparently so hasn't Robert Plant

I agree with tarazepp. Screw Plant.
    Plant is a gianormous primadona.
If he's so dead-set against a reunion, why did he even bother with the one-off gig? I guess it was extra special............."for him".
I for one would have loved to see Page play for possibly the last time.
I never saw him live - playing the songs I grew up with.
Led Zep wasn't "all" about Plant. For me it was the riffs and that sound.
I could care less about the money involved. I also became less concerned about Plant being involved as time went by and his primadona ways became more evident.
No point worrying over it now though.
There, that's off my chest. LOL.
    Jim.

Led Zeppelin ended years back, this is yet ANOTHER marketing ploy to continue to line the pockets of the men who once were 'giving the finger to the man'... Well i know where my finger is pointing, give it a rest, Zepp reunion is about as exciting as listening to war stories. Look and listen around, there is so many other bands about who plagiarise existing styles and rake it in...
    THE END

The Led Zep I saw at Earls Court in 1975 was the one who disbanded in 1980. Any get-togethers since have been one-offs!
Similarly, Queen are not the same without Freddie, even though they're still a great band, they're NOT Queen and can't be.
Zep died with Johnny Bonham let them rest in peace!!!

I really wish John Paul Jones and Jimmy page would hold an official press conference, and tell the public what the hell is going on.There is to many middle men (trying to make a name for them selves ,I suspect)with to many conflicting story's ,Robert plant has come out and officially told the press his intentions .so why cant the others do the same.As for Jason Bonham ,where to for him now? Will he go running back to Foreigner ?There is too many unanswered questions. And John Paul Jones has helped feed this rumour machine ,so they should do the right thing and hold an official press conference ,once and for all.(Preferably by video link as that way ;no misreporting of the press release can happen)
