Competition: win a place at metal guitar school THIS Saturday!

It´s been a busy year for the UK´s leading music college Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BIMM). From setting up musician scholarships with Funeral For A Friend and Bullet For My Valentine to stacks of visits from rock and indie royalty including: Red Hot Chili Peppers, James Blunt, Hard Fi, Scissor Sisters, Jarvis Cocker and The Feeling. And it doesn´t stop there, as BIMM is gearing up for its first ever Bristol Metal Summer School at the Anson Rooms on Saturday, 11 August.

The summer schools give players the opportunity to improve technique and styles whilst rubbing shoulders with the stars. During both summer schools players study technical development and live performance skills using industry standard equipment under the guidance of the biggest names in music. Between them the college tutors and guests have sold hundreds of thousands of albums signed to major and independent record labels, had chart hits, toured the world at stadium level (including Australia, Japan, USA), played main stage at Download, Glastonbury, Reading and Ozzfest, recorded dozens of Radio One sessions as well as having their music in films on television and in videogames.

The Bristol “Highway To Hell” Kerrang Metal Summer School, 11 August (one day only) sees the Metal School tutors and guests get on the road in a double decker tour bus to bring the metal to The Anson Rooms, Bristol. The one day school will be studying and playing METALLICA songs. The tutors and guests this year include members of Hundred Reasons, Sikth, Skunk Anansie, Pitchshifter, This Is Menace, Therapy and The Radio One Rock Show.
