Korg microKORG XL to launch at NAMM?

Will the microKORG XL be launched next year?

It looks like Korg could be preparing to launch a successor to its popular microKORG mini synth. Videos have appeared on the internet that appear to show a new keyboard called the microKORG XL.

As with its predecessor, the device features mini rather than full-size keys, and the presence of a microphone indicates that the vocoder has been retained. The synth looks to have a decidedly retro design, and there seem to be fewer controls than you'll find on the original microKORG.

Korg has yet to reveal spec details of the XL - though it has confirmed to MusicRadar that the new synth is on the way - but we suspect that it could be one of the products that the company launches at the 2009 Winter NAMM show in January.

We'll keep you posted if we hear anything more before then - in the meantime, check out the video below.
