Zebra creator returns with modular marvel
Ben Rogerson, Thu 19 Nov 2009, 12:33 pm UTC
u-he's new ACE synth looks to have a it all: a cracking pedigree (it comes from the same stable as the fabulous Zebra); an affordable price (it'll retail for €69/$85); and, most importantly, a faintly preposterous acronym (ACE stands for Any Cable Anywhere).
We're fully expecting this to be a great-sounding instrument, but u-he is also keen to point out that ACE makes modular synthesis accessible to beginners. Put simply, you can connect its modules together in a practically infinite number of ways, and possibly have a great time in the process.
We don't know how many presets you'll get at the moment, but it has been confirmed that ACE will be cross-platform and released in early December. Until then, here are some screenshots to whet your appetite.
