Timbaland wins songwriter of the year
Rhythm & Soul Music Awards honour producer
Songwriter/producer/artist Timbaland has been named songwriter of the year at ASCAP's 2008 Rhythm & Soul Music Awards.
Other winners at the 23 June event in LA included:
- R&B/hip-hop song of the year: Lost Without U by Robin Thicke
- Rap song of the year: Make Me Better by Fabolous featuring Ne-Yo
- Ringtone of the year: This Is Why I'm Hot by Mims
Timbaland also won songwriter of the year at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards earlier in 2008. Here he was recognised for his work on four songs: Ice Box by Omarion, Make Me Better and two Justin Timberlake songs, My Love (featuring TI) and Until The End Of Time (featuring Beyoncé).
New Edition members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant, Ronnie DeVoe and Johnny Gill were presented with the Golden Note Award.
