The D82 is designed to look like a piece of rack-mounted hardware.

It might not look like much, but BBE's Sonic Maximizer plug-in has been used by countless producers to give their mixes added polish and sheen. The company has now announced that this will shortly have a successor: the D82 Sonic Maximizer.

Based on BBE's 882i and 482i hardware, this new plug-in is designed to "restore high frequency definition and detail while focusing bass frequencies". Like its predecessor, it sports a very simple interface; what's important here is the sound.

The retail price of the D82 is still to be confirmed, but we've been told that it'll be available as a download in February and in a retail box in March. It's Mac- and PC-compatible and supports the VST, Audio Units and RTAS plug-in formats.

You can find our more at the BBE website.
