Hercules releases "professional" DJ mixing deck
DJ Control Steel features metal casing
Hercules is set to unveil the DJ Control Steel - a USB mixing control surface that's said to be suitable for professional DJs.
The company has released several DJing controllers in the past - most recently the DJ Console Rmx - but this looks like it could be the most rugged model yet. There's no audio I/O - you'll need another interface of some sort to handle that side of things - but the new device comes with a customisable steel centre plate and features a solid metal case.
Although the DJ Control Steel is designed to be portable, we're assured that the controls are well spaced. There are two decks to work with, each of which has a jog wheel. You'll find EQ and volume knobs, 13 rotary switches, 46 push buttons and six faders.
The DJ Control Steel is Mac and PC-compatible and will ship with the Virtual DJ 5 software. However, it can be used with any MIDI-controllable DJ app.
