COMPETITION: Win a £10,000 dream studio
Source Distribution's massive giveaway
If you are a resident of the UK or Ireland then Source Distribution has got together with some of the finest music technology brands to offer you the chance to win an amazing £10,000 dream studio, including a day's installation and training.
At the heart of the system is the brand new and incredibly user-friendly PreSonus StudioLive 16 channel digital mixer, which comes complete with 16 high headroom XMAX mic preamps, a 28x18 Firewire recording and playback engine, and stereo digital effects.
Recording
Recording duties are taken care of by an Apple MacBook Pro laptop running Logic Studio, complemented by Universal Audio's new UAD-2 Solo laptop powered plug-in system. The Solo Laptop squeezes the power of a UAD-2 Solo card into a pocket-sized ExpressCard format, thus enabling laptop users to benefit from the power of the UAD-2 plug-in platform for the first time.
Monitoring is taken care of by Event's ground-breaking new Opal active two-way monitors - designed from top to bottom to enable the reproduction of the most detailed dynamics while delivering incredibly low levels of distortion. For headphone monitoring, Sony's brilliant MDR7506 professional studio headphones are included in the package.
Front end
The front end of the recording system is provided by a selection of three Rode microphones - the NT2000 large diaphragm condenser microphone (ideal for vocals), a pair of NT55 small diaphragm condenser mics (perfect for instrument recording), and the new M1 dynamic mic - coupled with a premium quality Universal Audio 710 Twinfinity preamp.
The 710 offers the user a choice of both solid state and tube signal paths - each of which can be blended together for an infinite range of tones.
Extra processing is provided by Eventide's new PitchFactor digital effects unit - which packages 10 of Eventide's legendary pitch shifting effects into one compact unit that is equally at home patched into a mixer or working as a guitar stompbox.
