Snow Patrol: the sun is out

Snow Patrol have announced the release date for their fifth album. A Hundred Million Suns is out in 27 October (a day later in the US), preceded by a single Take Back The City on 13 October.

The album was recorded in two different locations: Hansa Studios in Berlin (where David Bowie recorded Low, Heroes and Lodger, and U2 recorded Achtung Baby) and at Grouse Lodge in Ireland. The band's regular producer Garret 'Jacknife' Lee - who has also worked with Bloc Party, REM and U2 - was again behind the desk.

Singer/guitarist Gary Lightbody says: ""I'm so proud of this record. Everybody played out of their skin. Garret continued his progression from maverick genius to one of the best producers in the world. Musically, lyrically and sonically the best record we've made"

Despite a somewhat anonymous reputation, Snow Patrol are one of the biggest-selling UK bands of this decade. 2006's Eyes Open album has sold 2.1 million copies in the UK and over one million in the US, while the hit single Chasing Cars recently received its two millionth download in the US.
