Guitar Center displays its Legends Collection
Few guitar collections can boast the kind of pedigree and history ingrained in the four instruments that comprise US retail chain Guitar Center´s Legends Collection.
Eric Clapton´s legendary ‘Blackie´ Stratocaster and cherry ES-335 will go on display at Guitar Center´s Minneapolis Twin Cities store alongside Stevie Ray Vaughan´s ‘Lenny´ Strat and The Edge´s Gibson Les Paul Custom on 1-2 March 2008.
For the first time, all four guitars will be transported from a secret, climate-controlled vault in Southern California and exhibited together.
Guitar Center purchased Clapton´s guitars together with SRV´s Lenny for a combined total of over $2.4 million at an auction for the Clapton Crossroads Centre charity at Christies New York in 2004. The Edge´s famous Les Paul Custom was purchased for $240,000 at the Music Rising charity auction in 2007.
The Guitar Center Twin Cities store is located on 1641 W. County Rd. in Roseville, Minnesota. Store hours will be extended for the display. On Saturday, 1 March the collection can be viewed from 10 am to 10 pm and on Sunday, 2 March, the hours will be from 10 am to 8 pm. There will also be an after hours Legends Collection Platinum Night from 9-11 pm on Friday, 29 February by invitation only.
