What can we say about Dave Grohl that hasn’t already been said a million times? Quite simply, from his time behind the kit for Washington punks Scream through to fulfilling his dreams by playing alongside John-Paul Jones with Them Crooked Vultures, Dave has always played with a raw power that few can match. Oh, and anyone with a CV that includes Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone Age can’t be too bad, can they?
Well, as far as metal drummers go, there is Jason Bittner of Shadows Fall that is one of the great up and coming drummers. There is also Paul Bostaph of Testament. Gene Hoglan is a phenomenal drummer, but kind of conceited a bit, since he trashes many drummers. There are so many out there that are so great! YOUNG drummers in their early 20's that one day will blow some of the older, established drummers away!!
Pardon me, but would someone please explain to me why Travis Barker was on this list instead of Dave Lombardo? Or Yoshiki Hayashi? And what about Danny Carey? This list is a joke.
Who made this list?? There's some major credibility issues. Neil Peart is #1. He's the most influential drummer of the last 3 decades. It's a no brainer. Vinnie Colaiuta is #2. Aside from having incredible technique, he's the most versatile drummer of the last 25 years. Not to mention he's played with EVERYONE or anyone thats important. Stewart Copeland, Steve Gadd, Terry Bozzio are all Top 10. This is no brainer shit for anyone who knows drumming. Where's Carter Beauford? Dennis Chambers? Danny Carey? Antonio Sanchez? Chad Wackerman? Jack DeJohnette? I could go on..... Travis Barker?? Dude has no business in the Top 10 or even on this list for that matter. Other commenters on here have thrown out some highly respectable names. Take note for next time.
Carter Beauford, Tre' Cool and Dave Lombardo ALLL absent from this list is wrong BIG TIME! As for the comment about the Elder Peart's best days being behind him didn't listen to "Snakes and Arrows" or see RUSH play live, or watch their recent Directv, HDNET concerts. The late great Cozy Powell, on the other hand, had his best days prior to 1986. Mr. Neal Peart still has it and still no. 1 to this day. Someone needs to take Rich Chamberlain (author of this list) to a Tool concert, damn!
Danny Carey (Tool), Matt Cameron (Soundgarden & Pearl Jam) & Jimmy Chamberlain (Smashing Pumpkins) all left off this list is a travesty, ESPECIALLY Danny Carey!!! What? Did Carey piss off your people at the mag? He should be #2 behind Peart. But how about Stephen Perkins of Jane's Addiction or Adam Clayton of U2 and Tony Royster Jr (Jay-Z's young phenom)??? Come on..the drummer of electronic New Order & Barker?!? Horrible List merely for Carey's ommission, period.
Joey is the best drummer in the world!!! Magot 4 life!! Get This...Or DIE
Dave Grohl and Ringo Starr!!!!!
The fact that barker is even on the list is bullshit. He is a popular person but i mean as a drummer, he can not even drink out of some of the toilets the other drummers shit in. Danny Carey not on the list is completely ridiculous. He should be at LEAST top 10. Bozzio should be way higher up, and Peart should be #1. Keep joey on the list but sure as hell not #1.
I'm curious why Tommy Lee's name isn't on there somewhere. He is certainly a very influential drummer. No one before him had gone to the extremes he has with finding ways to make his kit spin around and revolve while still playing full tilt. No one.
Joey Jordison first position??? This is an insult to many drummers in this polls. In my heart fisrt place should go to Gavin Harrison and where is Danny Carey? This is all about popularity here and it shouldn't be! I agree with those who think this polls sucks. Travis Baker????? Maybe good, for sure better than me but why did he found a place in the first 20 ? Oh Yeah, Where is BILLY COBHAM and JOJO MAYER and DOM FAMULARO. This is ridiculous.
