Noise.io synthesizer on iPhone

The first official synthesizer for both the iPhone and the iPod touch will soon be with us. Amido has been working with ESFM (Enhanced Subspace Frequency Modulation) to create a working app that can produce many noises and sound effects.

From the pictures MusicRadar has seen so far, it seems that Noise.io has a matrix-style sequencer for programming various parameters and a tap-tempo function (called TapBPM) for synching to other sound sources.

The sounds can be modulated in real-time by sliding your fingertips over the screen surface, while effects such as chorus, delay and flanger can also be added. Noise.io comes with 81 presets to get users on their way, plus an editor for creating unique patches.

Interestingly, Amido is also in the first stages of developing a didjeridoo emulator for the iPhone called Didjer.io, as well as a virtual flute by the name of Flute.io. What's more, there'll be a VST version of Noise.io towards the end of the year.

Noise.io will be available via Apple's App Store on August 25 2008, costing a mere $6.99/£3.99. A bargain, we're sure you'll agree.
