Introducing Sri Lankan percussion group Naadro
We were recently made aware of some hot new percussion talent from Sri Lanka, going by the name Naadro. We checked out some YouTube videos and a DVD of the group playing live and, never ones to keep secrets, just had to share them with you!
Naadro founder, Rakitha, began playing drums at the age of six and studied at the Prince of Wales College and the Royal College Columbo in Sri Lanka, during which time he learned to play a vast array of drums ultimately leading him to master Latin percussion. The group is completed by six other highly-skilled drummers who, between them, create a mind-bending pulse and visual treat.
The group performs with Sri Lankan, Indian, African and Latin percussion. Point your mouse at the video below and see for yourself.
The band are apparently making plans to tour the UK and Europe so watch this space. You can read more about the band at www.naadro.com.

I'm MusicRadar's eCommerce Editor. In addition to testing the latest music gear, with a particular focus on electronic drums, it's my job to manage the 300+ buyer's guides on MusicRadar and help musicians find the right gear for them at the best prices. I dabble with guitar, but my main instrument is the drums, which I have been playing for 24 years.
