Beat 2009 event and Young Drummer competition announced
Intitial details for the Beat 2009 event, set up by
(founder of
), have been announced. It will take place in Sheffield at the Sheffield Hallam University Students Union on Sunday 15 November between 1.30 and 5.00pm.
The show is now in its third year and attracts drummers from all over the UK. The prestigious event includes special guest drummers (details to follow), trade stands, exhibitions, demonstrations and the final of the Beat 2009 Young Drummer Competition.
The ‘Beat´ young drummer competitions have been running since 1987 and many of the previous entrants (not always the winners) are now amongst some of the most sought after drummers. Many are invited back as special guests - Pete Ray Biggin (Mark Ronson), Nathan Curran (Basement Jaxx), Steve Barney (Annie Lennox), Rick Chandler (Calvin Harris), Stuart Doughty (Reverend and The Makers) and Chris Bailey (Britney Spears) to mention a few.
