Beat 2008 Young Drummer Comp deadline approaching
As some of you may know (and if you don't click HERE for the full details), Sunday 19 October sees the Beat 2008 event hit the Sheffield Carling Academy.
As well as a host of star drummers the Beat 2008 Young Drummer competition will take place to celebrate the UK's young drum talent. If this appeals to you then you still have until 1 September 2008 to to enter. Full details on how to enter can be found at www.drummersalliance.com. Remember you don't need to go to great lengths to make an audition DVD. As long as it is audible and clear. The organisers have informed us that you can even ask a friend to film it on their phone and then transfer it to DVD. Simple!

I'm MusicRadar's eCommerce Editor. In addition to testing the latest music gear, with a particular focus on electronic drums, it's my job to manage the 300+ buyer's guides on MusicRadar and help musicians find the right gear for them at the best prices. I dabble with guitar, but my main instrument is the drums, which I have been playing for 24 years. I've been a part of the music gear industry for 20 years, including 7 years as Editor of the UK's best-selling drum magazine Rhythm, and 5 years as a freelance music writer, during which time I worked with the world's biggest instrument brands including Roland, Boss, Laney and Natal.
