A tip for the top from Kenny Aronoff...
Meet Gina Cappella-Grohl
We're always on the look out for new drum stars, and the latest burgeoning talent was recently brought to our attention by none other than Kenny Aronoff. The drummer in question is the multi-talented Gina Cappella-Grohl. That surname might be coincidence, but she can certainly hit the skins like the Nirvana/ Foo Fighters legend, just check out videos of Gina's playing over at her website.
In the meantime here's a little more about Gina, from the lady herself...
"I grew up in Exeter, Devon where I took drum lessons from the best teacher in the area... Steve Crossan before progressng to the ACM in Guilford. I played drums and sang in local bands and toured the country playing in clubs and eventually some festivals.
I always knew that if I really wanted to make it as a drummer/musician I would have to live in Los Angeles! That is where all kinds of music and opportunities in the music business happen. I feel very fortunate that Kenny Aronoff took me under his wing after I interviewed him at his drum clinic in Exeter. He believed in me, and said he saw my passion for drums and music. Everyone should have a Kenny!
I am currently working with a band called Mercy Love, when I am not recording or working on other projects. I also have been writing my own music where I play drums and sing. My music is very dark and haunting and I will be recording my music very soon."
Gina's upcoming plans include gigs and sessions throughout Los Angeles.
