NAMM 2018: Monster haul of new Jackson Pro, X and JS Series axes
New models, finishes and wood options for the year
X Series Soloist SL4X
The key selling point of the new addition to the mid-range X Series, the SL4X, is the trio of Duncan Designed Hot Rails single-coils mounted on its basswood body. There's also a maple neck, five-way switching and a choice of eye-catching Bubblegum Pink, Daphne Blue and Neon Orange paint jobs.
X Series Monarkh and Soloist - new finishes
Elsewhere in the X Series Soloist range, new finish options have been added with the SL3X now available in Satin Graphite or Neon Orange, the SLX in Lighting Blue and Satin Red Pearl and the SLX Spalted Maple, which pairs a spalted veneer with a natural finish.
Meanwhile, the singlecuts of the X Series have not been completely ignored, with new options SCX FM introducing an arched flame maple top option and the SCX Zebrawood bring an arched Zebrawood top in a natural finish to the table.
X Series WRX24 and WRX24 Natural
Jackson says there will be two new Warriors joining the fight in 2018 in the form of WRX24 and WRX24 Natural, which have Duncan Designed pickups, three-way switching and a Floyd Rose Special tremolo in common.
The difference lies in the WRX24 Natural's three-piece maple/mahogany/maple neck-through-body design and (surprise, surprise) natural finish, compared to its less glamorous sibling, which offers straight-forward graphite reinforced one-piece maple neck.
