Bill Kelliher, guitarist with the prog-metal band Mastodon, has been hospitalized in London as of 3 November, during the band's current European Unholy Alliance Chapter 3 package tour.

The group's publicist told MusicRadar that it was still unclear what exactly Kelliher was being treated for. Doctors will continue to monitor his medical condition, which is improving at press time.

Band pressing on as trio for now

At the moment, Mastodon (which also includes Troy Sanders, bass and vocals; Brent Hinds, guitar and vocals; and Brann Dailor, drums) have decided to continue on the tour as a trio.

Doctors and Kelliher are hopeful that he will rejoin his bandmates in time for their headlining tour of Europe which begins 30 November, in Utrecht, Holland and will end 7 December, at the All Tomorrow's Parties Festival in Somerset, England. More details to follow as they develop.

The group recently finished recording a new album with producer Brendan O'Brien, set for release next spring. Listen to a MusicRadar podcast interview with Kelliher in which he talks about the upcoming record.
