You say the boss never gives you anything for free? Not so with The Boss, that is Bruce Springsteen - he's offering a new song for the bargain price of nothing. And soon he'll do so on Guitar Hero as well.
In the weeks before the 26 January (27 January in the US) release of his next album, Working On A Dream, Springsteen is offering the track Life Itself as a free download on Amazon.com. (You can watch the video below.)
To our ears, Bruce Springsteen has always been a guitar hero, but now he's a virtual one too: Bruce is serving up the new track My Lucky Day and his classic Born To Run for free on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii versions of Guitar Hero: World Tour, beginning on Working On A Dream's release date and running through 4 February. (From then on, they will cost $2 each.)
A big year ahead
It's all part of what promises to be a big year for The Boss. On 1 February Bruce and the mighty E Street Band will tear up the stage at the Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida. And while a world tour has yet to be announced (he just wrapped one up, by the way), he's strongly rumored to be a headliner at the Glastonbury Festival in June.
While you're preparing to download your free tracks, check out the video to Life Itself.

Joe is a freelance journalist who has, over the past few decades, interviewed hundreds of guitarists for Guitar World, Guitar Player, MusicRadar and Classic Rock. He is also a former editor of Guitar World, contributing writer for Guitar Aficionado and VP of A&R for Island Records. He’s an enthusiastic guitarist, but he’s nowhere near the likes of the people he interviews. Surprisingly, his skills are more suited to the drums. If you need a drummer for your Beatles tribute band, look him up.
