Franz Ferdinand seek artful drummer
Your chance to make record with art rockers in art gallery
Giving a whole new meaning to the term art rock, Glasgow quartet Franz Ferdinand are collaborating with London's Hauser & Wirth art gallery for a forthcoming track. And they want you to drum on it!
Franz drummer Paul Thompson has been working with artist Anri Sala on a track entitled Ulysses, which is playing at Sala's current exhibition. And visitors are being invited to add the drums to complete the track. The drum 'score' which aspiring drummers have to play combines lyrics (from the James Joyce book) and a series of refined instructions detailing when and how the drums and cymbals might be struck. And in the recording booth, you don't get to hear the track-in-progress. How very, very artful.
Visitors to Sala's exhibition have until 22 December to add to the Franz track. Go to the Hauser & Wirth website for more details.
