The legendary guitarist is working on his solo album with a range of guest stars

Slash says he has completed work on four songs from his upcoming solo record.

The former Guns N' Roses man is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding guest singers on the album, although rumours persist that Lenny Kravitz, Alice Cooper, and ex-Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie will be involved.

Writing on his MySpace blog, the guitarist said: "We've nailed 4 killer tracks with 4 amazing vocals so far and nailing another one Tuesday, so things are going extremely well.

"Everybody who has contributed vocals so far have been flawless & the rhythm section, Josh [Freese, ex-Nine Inch Nails] & Chris [Chaney, ex-Jane's Addiction] are priceless.

"Eric Valentine [Queens of the Stone Age, Lostprophets] is a genius producer, not to mention, his team is great. All in all this last couple of weeks have been a hell a lot of fun and we're just getting started. It's definitely going to be a kick ass record, if I do say so myself."

Velvet Revolver

However, Slash's supergroup Velvet Revolver appear to be no closer to replacing Scott Weiland, who left the band a year ago, with a new frontman.

Slash wrote: "There was a lot of talk about our announcing a new singer in March but it obviously didn't happen. We had somebody that we thought was a really good candidate, but it just wasn't meant to be. So, we're still looking."
