GEAR EXPO 2024: Founded in 2001 by industrial designer and synthesiser aficionado Urs Heckmann as a one-man operation, the Berlin-based audio software company u-he has since evolved into a tightly knit team of employees, active associates and 3rd-party contractors, and with ambitious plans.
Known initially for Zebra2, and later for the popular virtual analogue synth Diva, u-he has released several other highly-acclaimed products over the years, and regularly contributes freeware plugins to popular music technology magazines. u-he products are always praised for their audio quality and ease of use.
More recently, u-he's developers have been exploring new technologies for vastly improved analogue synthesis and delay emulation (Repro and Colour Copy), for the smoothest possible wavetable interpolation (Hive 2), and for new physical modelling approaches to effect design (Twangström, below).
u-He has also moved into the Eurorack hardware field (CVilization).
This is all valuable groundwork and inspiration for exciting future products!
MFM2: More Feedback Machine
MFM2 is u-he's over-the-top digital delay plug-in. You can create anything from subtle textured echos to huge spacey reverbs, from wild tonal steps on a pad to rhythmic deconstruction of a drum track.
As a regular delay MFM2 already offers as much control and inspiration as possible, while the advanced features in version 2.5 open up wider horizons. More feedback, more control, more inspiration!
Filterscape 1.5 – The Creative Multi-Talent
Version 1.5 of u-he's classic Filterscape plugin bundle has received a major overhaul: a sleek new look, better-sounding EQs and new analogue filter models, among other features.
Filterscape FX gives you a set of powerful 4-band EQs and multi-mode filters to shape your sounds in unprecedented ways. Filterscape Q6 has a slightly reduced feature set but sports 6 EQ bands and is more focussed on dynamic tasks. Filterscape VA is a complete virtual analogue synthesizer with a polyphonic morphing EQ.
