Trance hero Paul van Dyk is following in the footsteps of Deadmau5 by releasing his own iPhone/iPod touch app. However, rather than enabling you to mix on your handheld, this contains a set of tools that could be useful to existing DJs.

The PvD DJ app offers such practical things as a BPM counter, a frequency analyser, a seismic reader and a torch. Light relief comes courtesy of a glowstick.

Rather than go into any more detail, we'll let you watch van Dyk explaining how everything works in the video below. The only things we don't know are when the app will be available and how much it'll cost.
