Having existed in a 'preview' state for several weeks, Prince's new website is now operational.

Presumably, more content is still to be added to www.lotusflow3r.com - there's no video at the moment, for example - but you can load up the virtual boombox with three new songs.

The first, Colonized Mind, sounds like it could be one of Prince's most commercial guitar ballads in years, while Discojellyfish is a slice of instrumental electro funk. Another Boy, meanwhile, appears to be another cut from current Prince muse Bria Valente.

"A fan's dream"

The site also features a selection of mocked-up press clippings that contain quotes attributed to fans who were invited to Prince's house to hear him play and look at the new website.

"The video section seems like it will be the most talked about - the quality will be a fan's dream," says one. On the subject of the music, he or she claims that "Prince is in a special place now where he's stretching more than in the past".

As previously reported, Prince plans to release three albums in 2009 without the help of a major record label.
