Apple to launch new version of Logic?

Speculation is growing that Apple will launch an all-new version of their Logic DAW at the Frankfurt Musikmesse. This massive trade fair (seriously, it's huge) kicks off tomorrow, so we'll know one way or another very soon.

Typically, Apple have refused to answer any questions about the future of Logic (we know - we've asked them) but given that they haven't given it a major update since 2004, we wouldn't be at all surprised to see a revamped version in Frankfurt. It may even have a new name, and then there's the issue of compatibility. Will it run on the old PowerPC Macs or be Intel only?

What we can guarantee is that there will be at least a couple of major product launches in Germany. We'd love to be able to tell you about them right now, but unfortunately, we've had to sign things saying that we won't.

More soon…
