With their new album Blackbird released today Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti has revealed how massive changes to the band affected its recording.
Since they released their debut One Day Remains in 2004 the group has parted ways with both its previous label and manager.
Tremonti said that he thinks adversity often leads bands to make better records: "You know, I think a lot of bands' best records are when they're going through hard times and it really comes across on this record," he said. "We don't bring these hard times upon us, but it really does help you push and we're pretty much essentially fighting for survival, you know, and that's what you have to do in this business, 'cause any day your career could be over and we're not about to give it up. So this record is pretty much our best effort we could put out."
Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips were all previously in Creed, while frontman Myles Kennedy sang for the Mayfield Four.
