A follow-up to The La's eponymous self-titled debut, could - according to Babyshambles drummer Adam Ficek - finally see the light of day, after a 19 year wait. And they want Babyshambles to be their "backing band"…

This revelation follows a recent onstage collaboration with The La's Lee Mavers and Babyshambles mainman Peter Doherty during his recent solo tour. Adam Ficek (also part of the tour), told all to NME

"He [Mavers] said how much he loved what we do, how we play, how we look. Lee said he's got loads of songs written and he'd like us to get involved. I'm not sure where it'll go from here, but it's enough to get excited about."

New material

Previously unrecorded La's tunes have been doing the rounds for some time. I Am The Key, Sorry and Gimme The Blues (first heard in 1989, but never surfacing on record) were played during The La's 2005 reunion tour.

Whether they appear on the new album remains to be seen. Whether the new album will actually be finished also remains to be seen - as long as it doesn't involve another There She Goes release (they've had four, and counting) we're all for it.
