Focusrite’s guitar masterclasses will help you to improve your playing and recording skills

By Advertorial

Series kicks off with London event hosted by Sithu Aye and Ola England

Focusrite has long been known as a company that can provide you with the hardware that you need to record a great guitar tone, but now it’s taking things a step further and hitting the road with a series of guitar masterclasses.

The first of these took place on Saturday 21 July 2018 at London’s iconic 100 Club, and featured progressive metal guitarist Sithu Aye and metal guitar player and producer Ola Englund. It represented a rare opportunity for aspiring talent to learn up close from two of the industry’s most successful self-made music makers, and focused on the question of ‘How has recording affected your career?’.

This event followed a Focusrite masterclass in the US, which was hosted by none other than Periphery’s Misha Mansoor. His theme was also recording, as he showed guitarists how to best utilise Focusrite’s Scarlett 2i2 interface, demonstrating that it’s all you need to get started.

Fortunately, that’s not the end of the story, as Focusrite is planning more guitar masterclasses that’ll benefit both guitarists who’ve been recording for a while and those who are taking their first steps into the world of music production. Keep an eye on Focusrite’s website and social media accounts for more details.

If you can’t wait for any of these standalone events, make sure you’re at the UK Guitar Show on 29 and 30 September at London’s Olympia. As well as presenting the very latest technology for recording guitarists, including its Scarlett and Clarett USB interfaces, Focusrite will also be hosting sessions with various artists, who’ll be giving you the benefit of their experience and passing on both playing and recording tips.

Subjects covered will include recording techniques - from interfaces to cab mic’ing - tone design and how to hone your sound using EQ, compression and other effect plugins. There’ll also be discussion about, among other things, how to translate your recorded guitar tone to the stage.

So, make sure you’re at Olympia and at the Focusrite booth, where session players, artists, YouTubers and product specialists will all be on hand to answer your questions and pass on their words of wisdom.

Tickets are available to buy now on the UK Guitar Show (opens in new tab) website. Find out more about the recent Ola Englund & Sithu Aye masterclass on the Focusrite (opens in new tab) website.
