Sequential at Synth Week 26: "It’s amazing to have a pro, vintage sound in such a small package!" Fourm isn’t trying to be everything. And that's kind of the point

SYNTH WEEK 2026: In a market saturated with ever larger feature sets and increasingly complex workflows,  Sequential’s Fourm – perhaps their most accessible synthesizer to date – takes a more deliberate path.

That's because Fourm's design focuses on essentials. Size, polyphony, and signal path are used intentionally, allowing more musicians to experience a premium Sequential instrument without sacrificing tone, build quality, or playability.

And that happens because, at its core, Fourm delivers four voices of 100% analog Sequential sound, built on the Prophet-5 voice architecture and Pro-One modulation matrix. This lineage isn’t merely symbolic.

With the envelope behavior, signal flow, and sonic response closely mirroring the instruments that defined an era of recorded music, Sequential have made a modern classic.

Fourm follows the focused design philosophy of instruments like the Prophet-5 and Pro-One so dual analog oscillators feed a classic four-pole lowpass filter – enhanced with bass compensation – to deliver unmistakable warmth, punch, and immediacy.

"It’s amazing to have a pro, vintage sound in such a small package!"

Fourm is deliberately mono with no onboard effects.

That might raise a few eyebrows in 2026, but then the Prophet-5 and Pro-One were dry, direct instruments that were designed to be recorded, processed, and shaped in the midst of creation.

So it goes for Fourm.

Pro-One's notable hands-on modulation section has directly inspired Fourm’s too. The tactile modulation matrix encourages experimentation, making sound design fast, physical, and intuitive. Meanwhile convenient top panel controls allow for immediate response to your touch.

You don’t program Fourm, as much as sculpt and shape it.

Where Fourm truly separates itself is in how it’s played.

The custom engineered polyphonic aftertouch slim-key keybed is central to Fourm’s identity, and it’s been calibrated specifically to it’s own analog engine.

“The polyphonic aftertouch is seriously so fun… Sequential nailed it.”

Bryn Bliska, Keyboardist –
Chappell Roan, Jacob Collier

Polyphonic aftertouch lets individual notes swell, bend, open filters and deepen modulation based on pressure alone. At the same time, the size of the keys allows for a more compact chassis, making it ideal for studios of all sizes and easy to take on the road.

Importantly, this also enables a level of expressive control that's seemingly rare on analog polysynths.

Forum isn’t trying to be everything. It’s trying to be something specific: a focused, expressive, analog instrument rooted in Sequential’s most iconic designs.

Compact, intentional, and musical; Fourm proves that simplicity doesn't have to mean compromise.
