Expressive E’s Ctrl-e: one expressive ecosystem, multiple synthesis worlds and a sound universe that keeps growing

Osmose was designed around a simple idea: creating a more direct connection between gesture and sound. Ctrl-e extends that philosophy into the world of software instruments.

Software synthesis offers an enormous range of possibilities, but moving between different plugins can quickly interrupt the creative flow. Each instrument comes with its own interface, preset browser, mappings and approach to expression. Expressive E created Ctrl-e to bring these different synthesis worlds together in one unified environment built around Osmose.

Rather than browsing plugin by plugin, musicians can explore sounds according to what they are looking for. Ctrl-e lets users browse by instrument type, sonic character, playing style or synthesis method, while every included preset comes with expressive mappings designed specifically for Osmose. Performance controls and macros remain immediately accessible, allowing players to shape sounds without constantly moving back to the computer.

Today, Ctrl-e brings together more than 1,000 expressive presets across a wide range of synthesis approaches. Analog modelling covers warm basses, classic leads and vintage tones. Wavetable and digital synthesis open up evolving pads, modern textures and more experimental sound design. Physical modelling brings organic and acoustic-inspired instruments into the ecosystem, while Expressive E’s own engines explore sounds designed from the ground up for multidimensional performance.

The idea is not to make every synthesizer sound the same. It is to make very different instruments feel coherent to explore and play from Osmose.

And the Ctrl-e sound universe keeps growing.

The latest update expands the ecosystem with new expressive content for Serum 2 and GForce Prophet~5.

For Serum 2, Expressive E has created 50 free presets focused specifically on the synth’s expressive potential. Built around Serum 2’s latest features, they span leads, basses, atmospheric textures and more experimental sounds. Each preset has been designed to respond dynamically to Osmose, using pressure, movement and articulation as integral parts of the sound. The presets are available through Ctrl-e for musicians who already own Serum 2. A Serum 2 license is required separately.

GForce Prophet~5 also joins the growing Ctrl-e ecosystem with new expressive sounds that explore different sides of its unmistakable analog character. From warmer and more melancholic tones to darker textures and brighter, nostalgic sounds, the presets bring additional movement, nuance and playability to a familiar synthesis architecture.

With each new integration, Ctrl-e expands the range of sounds available to Osmose players without changing the core experience: one expressive ecosystem, multiple synthesis worlds, all built around the way Osmose is played.
