Word reaches MusicRadar that Digidesign may be launching Pro Tools 8 at the AES show that's currently taking place in San Francisco.
Reports on several forums indicate that new versions of Pro Tools HD, Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered will be announced, and that these will all have a new user interface. This promises to be based on a "more modern colour palette" and include dockable Editing windows and a configurable Edit Window toolbar.
It's also being speculated that Pro Tools 8 will come with "dozens" of new plug-ins, including five virtual instruments and 20 effects. Fully integrated MIDI and score editors could be implemented, too.
We'll bring you more details as they emerge.
