PreSonus at Plugin Week 2025: Studio One Pro 7.2 takes you all the way from idea to finished track - without adding a single third-party plugin
No setup headaches, no chasing updates - Studio One Pro gives you everything you need, straight out of the box

PreSonus' Studio One Pro 7.2 is proof that a modern DAW can provide everything you need to write, record, edit, mix and master your own music, offering a complete in-the-box production environment that can take you from the spark of an idea through to a release-ready track - without adding a single third-party plugin.
With 45 professional-grade native effects, seven full-featured virtual instruments, 20+ GB of samples, and cutting-edge mix tools like Mix FX and AI-powered stem separation, Studio One Pro is designed for musicians, producers and sound designers that need power, flexibility, and an intuitive workflow, all in one platform.
The latest 7.2 update takes this even further, introducing a suite of performance upgrades and creative tools that make the DAW one of the most versatile and forward-thinking on the market today.
Headlining the update is Sub Zero Bass, a brand new instrument created with cinematic sound designers The Solos. Combining deep-sampled bass guitars, modular synths, seismic drones and atmospheric textures, Sub Zero Bass is designed for modern scoring and trailer work but can also lend a unique character to electronic and pop productions.
Built on a three-layered sound engine and equipped with a toolbox of creative effects, this instrument’s floor-shaking low-end gives producers a powerful tool for sculpting sonic foundations.
Also new in 7.2 is Tuner2, a major upgrade to Studio One’s tuning plugin. It supports over 30 presets that span both alternate and open tunings, with options for custom tuning configurations; ideal for guitarists and multi-instrumentalists working across a variety styles.
Studio One 7.2 also adds native support for the Nashville Number System, a handy chord notation method used by session players and educators. With automatic translation available everywhere chords are displayed in the DAW, this feature is invaluable for collaborative workflows and writing lead sheets.
Studio One Pro’s 45-strong arsenal of effects continues to offer immense creative flexibility thanks to titles such as Fat Channel, a powerful channel strip modelled on classic studio gear that combines a variable high-pass filter, gate/expander, compressor, EQ and limiter.
Harnessing PreSonus’ State Space modelling, it precisely recreates the behavior of coveted analogue hardware across a growing library of EQ and compressor modules that span a varied sonic palette. Combined with the Mix FX engine, which emulates vintage consoles by applying crosstalk, saturation, and other mix-wide effects across multiple channels, Studio One delivers genuinely professional mixing capabilities entirely in-the-box.
Workflow refinements in version 7.2 include more intuitive Auto Punch recording with new pre- and post-roll options, a consolidated record panel, and footswitch support. A new continuous scroll playhead keeps the cursor centered on the timeline while the arrangement moves beneath it, a convenient addition that’s been frequently requested by users.
What’s more, the updated export system automatically detects whether external gear is being used and switches between real-time and offline rendering accordingly - a big timesaver for hybrid studios.
Studio One Pro 7 shows that you don’t need a mountain of add-ons or expensive plugin suites to get professional results. Instead, it offers a streamlined, full-featured recording environment with all the tools you need to write, mix and master at the highest level.
From high-end analogue modelling and powerful built-in synths and samplers to industry-leading Splice integration and stem separation, everything’s integrated and ready to go. No setup headaches, no chasing updates, just a complete creative ecosystem that empowers you to make the music you want to make, straight out of the box.
