Gibson prepares for Dusk Tiger launch

"The most innovative guitar in the history of music"

Press Release, Fri 13 Nov 2009, 12:23 pm GMT

PRESS RELEASE: You have a rare wealth of creative potential lurking deep within, but until now no guitar has had the power to fully tap into it. Enter Gibson's Dusk Tiger, simply the most astounding innovation in the history of the guitar. In the wake of Gibson's groundbreaking Dark Fire, the new Dusk Tiger offers an unprecedented wealth of features to expand your sonic horizons exponentially, yet it brings them to you with greatly increased levels of performance and ease of use, and all at an affordable price.

Not only does the Gibson Dusk Tiger offer an awe-inspiring versatility of tone and playability, it also captures a stunning new look that is arguably refined in such a way that musicians will stare in amazement.

It retains the general Les Paul-inspired body lines, but presents them in a guitar with a flat top made from an exotic hardwood beaming with golden, amber, and dark chocolate hues. This top is coupled with a tone-chambered back, and a unique new pickguard and control layout.

Under the hood, the Gibson Dusk Tiger reveals countless new features and unprecedented technology that give it even more power, along with considerable upgrades and improvements of existing electronics and control systems, and an unlimited number of sound possibilities.

New to the Gibson Dusk Tiger are:

Programmable active four-band parametric EQ systems for both the magnetic and the piezo pickups, which allow infinite fine tuning of your tone.

Switchable LP-Z High Definition Impedance circuit (low impedance capabilities) built into improved Neutrik jack with both ¼" and XLR outputs

And much, much more…

Further details and additional hi-res images will be available from Monday 16 November followed by a list of global events and promotions confirmed for the worldwide launch of the most innovative guitar in the history of music, The Gibson Dusk Tiger.

When will Gibson get it that most of us like the traditional stuff? Why do they feel the need to try and reinvent the wheel again and again and in the ugliest way possible? I actually quite like the wood on the top on this but as for the metal bits................. Jesus! Nearly as bad as the Darkfire with its tacky fake carbon fibre bits. I think Gibson employs too many lawyers and B.S. merchant sales/advertising guys and not enough musicians in R & D. They should concentrate on building the classics properly and at a better price and then their sales will increase by far more than this turkey will ever do. They should take a leaf out of Fenders book and appreciate the saleability of their history outside the Custom Shop.

do gibson really get alot of requests for a les paul style guitar with a piezio p-up, flat top and xlr out? Anyone think they'll sell these with a free Hendrix Inspired strat-a-like...? I'm glad my pension isnt in Gibson shares...

Well, if they'll continue writing press releases like that one, they're gonna lose lots of potential buyers.

Is this to go the way of the ill fated and apparently unwanted M3?
