Hundreds of aspiring axe gods from every corner of the globe are bidding to win the coveted title of Guitar Idol 2009 at this year's London International Music Show on 13 June.
The Guitar Idol competition was one of the highlights of 2008 attracting over a quarter of a million visitors to the website to vote for players from Russia, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Bosnia and the UK. Brazilian Gustavo Guerra was the victor.
Guitar Idol 2009 has seen over a thousand of the world's top undiscovered guitarists battle their way through four online heats to make it to the live final on the main stage at LIMS. Judges include Phil Hilborne, Jamie Humphries and Jamiroquai’s Rob Harris.
Prizes include a top of the range Paul Reed Smith Custom 24, an Ernie Ball Musicman Silhouette, a Rob Williams Set Neck Standard and a unique “Guitar Idol” 7 string custom guitar from Mayones, plus amps from Marshall, Blackstar and a day in the studio with top rock producer Steven Loveday.
