iPhone gets a Mellotron

Apple's iPhone/iPod touch platform is gradually starting to fill up with vintage instruments - the latest to arrive is a miniaturised version of the Mellotron.

Going by the name of the Ellatron, this comes from Omenie Software and features not just vintage choir, string, brass, flute and woodwind sounds, but also synths and drum loops.

Version 1 of Ellatron is currently available in the App Store for $2.99/£1.79, but its developer says that this is just the start.

Features such as a 32-note polyphonic multi-voice sequencer are already in the pipeline - this will enable you to record using up to eight instances of the instrument.
