Too cool for school? Not if you're attending Fender University. This exclusive new music education program for guitar enthusiasts worldwide will hold its inaugural session Aug. 21 - 24, 2008.

Fender U. will offer behind-the-scenes access to the company's manufacturing headquarters and world renowned Fender Custom Shop in Corona, California. The curriculum will also include a series of music workshops, hands-on education experiences, performance opportunities, special guest appearances and insight on everything musicians needs to know about all things Fender.

Enrollment into the inaugural session is limited to only 35 guitar and bass scholars worldwide and is open to players of all skill levels and musical styles over the age of 21. Registration information is available exclusively through this specialty website.

Students will stay in a full-service "dorm" - the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside, CA - as they work their way through the extensive and intensive curriculum and tour Fender facilities in the area. Upon graduating, each student will receive a VIP pass to a Fender University commencement party and a new American Standard Series guitar or bass.

Richard McDonald, Honorary Dean of Fender University, said the following: "The legacy of Fender is so much greater than any single artist, recording, person, place or thing. When that undeniable power is harnessed into a hands-on experience that allows musicians to connect the rich history of Fender with all of the excitement of the present and future, amazing things will happen. We are delighted to be able to open our doors to a few eager students who will be offered the rare ability to graduate to the highest levels of the spirit of rock 'n' roll."
